Single Market Relaunch
Louis Grech has been appointed Rapporteur to compile an own-initiative report on "Delivering a Single Market to Consumers and Citizens". In this connection, he had a private meeting with Prof Mario Monti during the December Strasbourg session.
Mini-Hearing IMCO, 4 November 2009
IMCO held a mini-hearing regarding the Proposal for a directive combating late payments in commercial transactions. Louis Grech, Vice-Chair of IMCO, reviewed the objectives of the Proposal and suggested ways that this could be modified to better achieve the objecti ves.
Better Regulation in the EU
Louis Grech, along with the rest of IMCO Bureau, had a meeting with Ms Catherine Day, Secretary-General of the European Commission on 10 November 2009, to discuss the issue of Better Regulation in the European Union.
Product Safety
Louis Grech addressed a conference on Market Surveillance that also included product safety, in December 2009.
Professional Qualifications
Louis Grech participated in a Mini-Hearing on the mutual recognition of professional qualifications in the EU, on 16 November, 2009, where he asked questions to the experts who attended and made his own personal observations.

EU General Budget 2008 Discharge
As S&D Shadow Rapporteur, Louis Grech commented on the EU General Budget 2008 Discharge, with particular reference to the proper functioning of SOLVIT.
